Lauded for Efforts in Oil Testing

PowerSeraya has received the award of lab accreditation from SAC-SINGLAS. The Singapore Accreditation Council-Singapore Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (SAC-SINGLAS) is a national scheme that evaluates the technical competence of testing and calibration laboratories based on a fixed set of guidelines. Following ten months of preparations, PowerSeraya received the accreditation for its oil testing laboratory based in its plant on Jurong Island.

The accreditation will help PowerSeraya provide fuel oil analysis services to its physical oil trading subsidiary, PetroSeraya. With this new national accreditation, customers can certainly be assured of the quality of their bunker products. To the same degree, bunker suppliers in Singapore are required to obtain a Certificate of Quality (COQ) issued by a laboratory accredited by the SAC for any purchased products under a new standard established since 1 June 2007.

The award was received by Mr. Quek Khai Hor, Senior Vice President of the Utilities Group, at the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) Annual Awards held in conjunction with Quality and Standards 2008 on 21 August.

This latest accreditation adds to the wide list of recognitions the company has received for its operational work processes. They include certifications achieved for its management systems and health and safety work place practices e.g. ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001. Certainly another factor that demonstrates the company’s ability to deliver value and make a difference!
